Gurugram Gurus Retain Rahul Sethpal, Mandeep Kumar and Sahil Jagveer for KCL Season 2

Gurugram Gurus have retained Rahul Sethpal, Mandeep Kumar, and Sahil Jagveer for Season 2 of the Kabaddi Champions League (KCL), keeping three players who played across the mat in the inaugural season. The retentions give the franchise a mix of defence and attack as it prepares for a bigger, tougher campaign.
Rahul Sethpal: An India Squad Defender
Rahul Sethpal was a defensive pillar for Gurugram Gurus in Season 1. Across six matches he made 28 tackle attempts and converted 16 of them, a success rate of 57.1 percent, for 18 tackle points. He also recorded two Super Tackles and one High Five performance. His quality was recognised nationally when he was named in India’s squad for the Asian Games 2026, where India’s men won gold. Keeping a defender who has reached that level gives the Gurus a strong foundation at the back.
Mandeep Kumar: The Leading Raider
Mandeep Kumar carried much of the Gurus’ attack in Season 1. Across six matches he attempted 91 raids and converted 34, scoring 54 raid points at a raid strike rate of 59.3 percent. He added three Super Raids, three Super 10 performances, 33 touch points, and 21 bonus points, one of the stronger bonus-point returns among the franchise’s raiders. His mix of touch and bonus scoring made him a threat from several angles, and retaining him preserves the Gurus’ main attacking weapon.
Sahil Jagveer: Depth in the Raiding Unit
Sahil Jagveer was part of the raiding rotation, playing six matches and attempting 49 raids, with 13 successful ones and 17 raid points. His workload gave the Gurus important depth in attack, keeping the raiding unit fresh through a demanding league phase. Retaining him gives the team a squad player who already understands the franchise’s setup and can step up when needed.
Stability Under Jagpal Singh
All three players will continue under head coach Jagpal Singh, who also remains in charge for Season 2. Keeping the head coach and key players together gives the Gurus a consistent tactical base from which to build.
A Tougher Season Ahead
Season 2 will be more competitive, with ten franchises after the addition of Jhajjar Jaguars and Kurukshetra Knights. The Gurus will face established sides including Rohtak Royals, Bhiwani Bulls, Karnal Kings, Sonipat Stars, Panipat Panthers, Faridabad Fighters, and Hisar Heroes. With three retained players in place, the Gurus can head into the auction knowing which areas they need to strengthen.
What It Means for Gurus Fans
For Gurugram supporters, the retentions bring familiar faces and continuity. A defender with an Asian Games gold medal and a proven lead raider are good reasons to look forward to the new season.
